When things are not up to par…..

The last 18 months have been some of the busiest of my life.

I’ve written a bible study, done retreats, written new messages, started a new online blog, and have seen the birth of two new grandsons and 2 new great grandsons.

Time has slipped away from me in the busyness.

I don’t begrudge a moment of it, for it was God’s plan for me. He has taught me so much in the last few months, some of which I will be sharing in upcoming posts.

But for a time, I’m not up to par. My back is out, making sitting at my computer and writing very hard. I’ve had a procedure done to alleviate the pain and will have another one this coming Monday, but in the meantime, I’m down.

Oh but I’m up!

There is a time for everything. A time to plant. A time to reap. A time to cry and time to rejoice.

And there is most assuredly a time to pull back from the world. A time to sit in quietness, albeit pain, and seek His face. To mediate on Who He is and what He has done. and it is good.

I had a great talk today with a dear friend of over 20 years who is in the throes of cancer treatment. She is losing her hair. Her face is swollen. Her body is failing her and in the process she looks awful.

But her heart is not failing! She is thanking God for this time in her life. Time to ponder His mercies; to meditate on His magnificence and to proclaim His benefits to others in the pain.

It will probably be a few weeks before I will post regularly or perhaps it will only be days, but whatever the time, let me leave you with this today, praise Him where you are. Whatever your lot it has been allowed by Him to to bring you to Himself.

If you are too busy, praise Him and seek His grace in the moments whizzing past you in a blur.

If you are not busy enough, ask Him what His will is and do it with all your heart, even if it is menial.

If you are sick, enjoy the silence, asking Him for ears to hear His whispers to you. See it as a time for your soul to be replenished.

If you are hurting and dying and crying, know that He is with you in this pain. Seek His comfort and you will find Him.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
